Well asking my mistress if she could take me into the city to see the dealer that bought the ring that Harry stole, didn’t go absolutely as planned. Why do women ask so many questions? Why couldn’t she just accept that I needed to go and leave me to tell her why if I had wanted to? Which I didn’t! As a dog, trying to explain to your mistress that you have friends that have been involved in crime is not a good starting point. Trying to explain you want to go on their behalf to talk to someone that was in receipt of some of those stolen goods, does not look good. By the time we had finished I had had to explain all about Harry and the things he was doing before I could get any answer out of her at all. Not surprisingly she didn’t want me to get mixed up in it all but did want to help Harry in going straight so she has agreed and we are going on Thursday.

If I had realised that the other week was the only bit of summer we were going to get then I would have made more of it. I would have insisted on being outside all hours that it was light, or at least the ones when the sun was shining. Being my first summer, I had assumed that that was just the beginning. How can there be droughts when there is so much water coming down? I have spent more hours sitting looking out of the window at the rain than is sensible for any puppy. I can even see my poor frisby lying out there on the grass where I left it. I have been sneeking off and curling up on my mistress and master’s bed as it is nice and warm and cosy. If I do it while my mistress is working I can get away with it as she doesn’t tend to come and look where I am. When she does catch me I do get into awful trouble but it’s worth it!

Apparently my dislike for football is about to be sorely tested. It is something called the World Cup starting quite soon and both my mistress and master say they want to watch as much as possible. Don’t I get any say in things? What if I don’t want to watch? Secretly I think I probably do but it would spoil my protests to let them know I am actually starting to enjoy it. I do prefer television programmes with other dogs in though. When there are dogs on television I am absolutely glued to the screen. It makes me start thinking all over again about a career as an actor. If they can do it, why couldn’t I?
