Friday 7th October 2016 – Oh Bother

There I was getting all excited about losing this wretched cone and now it looks like I shall be wearing it for at least another week. The main part of my scab came off yesterday and whilst that’s sort of good news as most of my leg is healing, it showed there was still a staple which needed removing. Our Mistress discussed with me whether she should take it out and I just gave her that look! The one that says ‘do you really know what you’re doing?’. Anyway, she concluded that she didn’t and that I would not appreciate it if she got it wrong, so off we went to the vet. It turns out it was a good job she didn’t try as you need a special tool to get them to come out easily and we don’t have one of those. Our Mistress was half expecting to say I could take the cone off and she was being over cautious. However, what the vet actually said was that it’s better to be safe than sorry and it’s probably going to be another week before I’m ready to be left to my own devices. That means another week wearing the cone for me and another week on the settee for our Mistress. All I can say is it’s a good job she’s got a nice comfy sofa bed now else she’d be even less thrilled than she is… or make me sleep on my own, which would be horrible.

Wilma is supposed to be working hard on her training ahead of next week. She did ok in her class this week, but our Mistress says she’s going to have to do better than that without the treats next week. Her biggest sin this week was talking in class… or more to the point shouting, which she did at regular intervals because she didn’t know the other dogs and because she was bored. Hopefully next week will go ok or our Mistress is going to be very fed up.

Alfie’s Diary – the Book as well as our other books are available HERE

  1. Hi Alfie, Wilma sounds just like me at training! I chat a lot. Sometimes I then have to go out to the front of the class with the trainer away from my Mum. I do not mind too much as I help with the demonstrations. I like to be busy. We have a new group now and there are 10 dogs. It takes me a while to get used to them. I go round them all when we arrive and say hello. I help to keep them in order by barking when they go wrong, apparently I am not supposed to do that.Wilma and I would make a good team. We should run our own class for Entlebuchers. Well, I had a very long walk in the woods this afternoon so I am off to have a snooze. Love to you all Dickens XXXX

    • A class just for Entlebuchers, can you imagine the noise? I don’t think the humans would want to be in the same room. I think Wilma’s being told she needs to learn to be quiet, but I can’t see that happening any time soon.
      Have a good weekend
