The Shopping List
Oh dear, the story of the shopping list was not a happy one. Mum had made a list of what was needed from the supermarket. She’d put it in the back pocket of her trousers and then we went for a walk by the lake. She’d also put her phone in her back pocket and all was going well until Dad rang. She talked to him for a few minutes as we carried on walking and then put her phone away. Then she remembered her list and patted her back pocket to make sure it was still there. It wasn’t. She knew immediately what must have happened and quickly started to retrace her steps. We went over the little bridge and she could see a piece of paper on the ground ahead of us, so breathed a sigh of relief.
We were only a couple of paces from the shopping list when there was a little gust of wind and it gently fluttered into the lake ahead of us. Mum was mortified. She hates leaving litter and spent ages trying to find something to fish it out. It’s use as a shopping list was over as she’d written it in ink and as we watched the letters just floated away.
Diets
Mum has agreed a deal with me. For every kilogram I lose she will try to lose three. Given she has had a piece of Black Forest Gateaux since she made that suggestion, I’m not sure how serious she is taking her side of the deal. On the bright side it meant two good walks yesterday. The first one didn’t go to plan. We parked at Gottschalkenberg and planned to walk back to our house. This time we remembered the key for the garage, but as it turned out the paths were blocked by snow and it was too unstable to walk on, so we ended up having to walk back up to where we’d left the car. It meant it was all uphill on the way back so bad planning on Mum’s part.
Alosen
Then later as we hadn’t managed to find the bench that Mum wanted to go to we went for another walk up through our village, but on the other side of the main road. We still haven’t found the bench as we gave up before we got that far, (it was way up the hill behind where we got to) but we had a lovely walk anyway. We were all quite tired after that and had a nice quiet evening doing nothing.

Tell your Mom to use the Notes app (iphone) on the phone. I was forever losing lists even when they were still in my pocket. Since using the Notes app, I’m a much happier person. It works well for me, hope it will for her too!
If I suggest that to her the next thing that will happen is she loses her phone! Then she’d really need to get into the water of the lake. I think she should just get a better memory so she doesn’t need to make a list. I guess it’s a bit late for that. I’ll talk to her.
Have a lovely Sunday
