Happy 100^th Birthday

Happy 100^th birthday to Alfie. Obviously, that is his age in dog years rather than human years, but today he has reached that immense milestone. We didn’t think he was going to get this far the way things were in December, but we are all absolutely delighted that he has. As you would expect on such a monumental day, Mum has bought steak. She has promised that Ari and I can have some when we get home and I’m not at all bitter to be missing the celebrations. Really! Alfie is at least getting his birthday wish of a quiet birthday away from the bother of lots of dogs.

Royal Messages

As you know, humans get a birthday message from the Queen here in England on their 100^th birthday. Well there is no reason for Alfie to miss out on special greetings. I am delighted to say that he has received the following greetings from very special Corgis.

Harley Blue’s Message to Alfie

Harley Blue, a decidedly unroyal Corgi from the US, would like to wish Alfie a very happy 100th birthday! Blue says, “I hope you get all the special treats and attention you want from your humans on your very special day!”

Secrets to a long life

I asked Alfie if he could share with us the secrets to his long life. He says above all else there are three things he would like to give credit to 1) He says there is nothing greater in life, however long you live, than love. It is something no dog or human should be without. 2) He has benefited from outstanding veterinary services without whom he would not be here today. He wants to pay special tribute to the wonderful vets and nurses at Galtres Vets in Flawith. 3) Finally he wasn’t sure whether to say the good sense of Mum and Dad to buy a house only 6 doors down from an outstanding butcher, or simply to give the credit to Hartley’s Butchers themselves. He says their steak is always something to look forward to.
