My Mountain
Does it say My Mountain, or Wilma’s Mountain to be more precise? No! After all that and she hasn’t given it its proper name. Mum has finished painting the bird feeder signpost. Obviously, I’d already told you that one arm rather sadly points to NTA’S GROTTO, but now the whole thing is complete. The distances, appropriately as it is for the birds, are the direct ‘as the crow flies’ distances and it seems that Wilma’s Mountain (aka Raten) is 646 miles away. When we drive it is actually over 800 but then we can’t drive in a straight line. I don’t mean that Mum wanders all over the road, obviously we’d be stopped if she did that. What I mean is that we have to stick to the roads and not drive straight over the fields.
All the places are ones that are important to Mum and Dad in one way or another. There is the place they first met and places they’ve lived and a couple of places from Mum’s books. Now Mum just needs to work out where to put it and roughly which way round it needs to go.
Being Naughty
Yesterday was one of those days. I know we all have them, but we all had one at once – the dogs of the house that is. We all felt unsettled and were naughty as a result. I even talked over Mum during one of our Zoom calls and I know I’m not supposed to do that. I wouldn’t even shut up when she asked, which left me somewhat in the dog house. In reality we’re all missing Dad. Every time there are changes to the number of people around we take a day or two to work things out and settle down again. Shadow is missing Dad the most. He’s her human and she finds it hard when he isn’t here to make a fuss of her.
Ari could hear children playing next door and kept shouting through to the rest of us to tell us what was happening.
Mum has asked if today we could be a little quieter. We’re thinking about it.
