Shadow at the vet – Wednesday 28th October 2020

Shadow at the vet

Today is the day that Shadow is at the vet for another scan on her spleen. Somehow, given how cross she can be sometimes, having problems with her spleen seems appropriate, but don’t tell her I said that. We are all hoping there is no change in size in the marks that were found there. If they have got bigger then she’s going to need an operation to remove her spleen and at her age any operation is a big deal. We don’t really think of her as being that old, but since Orson died last week, she is now the oldest Entlebucher in the UK. She’s still three months of her twelfth birthday, so hopefully she will be with us for a long time yet.

Even without her here for a few hours it’s kind of strange.

Cooking

I was hoping we were going to spend today cooking, seeing as Shadow isn’t here to help, but I think it may be tomorrow. This time it really is something we can help with. I know we aren’t supposed to help with cake baking, but you can’t argue with us helping to make meat pies. There will be beef and carrots and parsnips and lots of things that are very good for us dogs. Now we just have to persuade Mum to drop them in strategic places so we can all get some and not argue. Ari is already moaning as she prefers cheesecake, but you can’t please everyone.

Keeping ourselves amused

We’re all trying to guess which order the trees will lose their leaves. Ari has selected his choice and is now peeing on it every day to help it along. Sadly for him, we’ve had so much rain that I think he may have to try harder. The pear trees and big cherry tree seem to be winning – or is it losing? They look rather sad compared to the other trees which still have leaves.

Love Wilma

  1. Hi, please send my Mum lots of love and tell her I am thinking of her with my paws crossed and we all hope that everything is OK. Mum took me to the Vet in a hurry on Saturday and we just made it before they closed. My paw was sore and I kept holding it up. As it reminded her of one of the beagles when she had a broken toe she thought it might be that.Luckily it is an interdigital cyst. I am on antibiotics and it is getting better. It is hard because I have to keep it clean and dry – in this weather!!!!! Could not meet up with my friends this week but should be OK by the weekend. I see my lovely Vet on Monday to check I am better. Lots of love to you all DickensXXXXXX

    • I will, and we’re sending all our love to you. We do hope your paw is better soon. Thank goodness it was nothing worse.
      Lots and lots of love
      Wilma
