Certainly scared me
Well that certainly scared me. There was a spider. And before you get the wrong idea, I’m not scared of spiders. It was not the spider that made me jump out of my bed wondering what on earth was going on. It was Mum. You see, the problem is that she is scared of spiders. She had woken up and was sitting up in bed in the middle of the night, with the light on but without her glasses. She never appreciates fast moving, eight-legged visitors when she hasn’t got her glasses on. I was rudely awoken by Mum thrashing wildly at the duvet.
I was fully expecting the house to be on fire at the very least, but it was just an unwelcome visitor. Thankfully, although the excitement stopped Mum sleeping for a good while, I had no such problem so asked her not to disturb me again and went back to sleep.
Favourite spot
I keep changing my mind about my favourite spot in the garden. I do like sitting in the shade under a tree. What I do particularly like is the ones that give me the best view of what’s going on. I can while away many happy hours sitting doing nothing more than sniffing the breeze and listening to what is going on around me. I’m always alert and ready for action. Rarely am I actually called upon to take any action, but that’s beside the point. There is nothing better on a sunny day to simply sit and enjoy my surroundings. Frankly, I think Mum could learn quite a lot from my approach. She seems to need to spend time ‘doing’ rather than ‘being’. I’m trying to train her, but I don’t think I’m getting very far. Maybe I need to use higher value treats when training her.
