A day of two halves
Yesterday was a day of two halves. The first half was lovely. We thanked the builders for all their hard work and being such a good bunch to have around. Mum cooked pizza for everyone – except me – at lunchtime. One of the builders is Gary and he has worked on our work for the whole year, except for a few days here and there. We all wanted to make sure he knew how much he was appreciated.
It was the second half of the day which didn’t go so well. While they were working after lunch, Gary’s van was broken into on the road outside our house and all his tools taken. The burglars even drilled through the lock to get into the van. It was just so horrible and so unfair. It totally spoiled what Mum had wanted to be a nice day.
Beach hut painting
Mum has started her beach hut painting of the shed. Dad says he’s never seen a beach hut which looks like it. Mum says he needs to see more beach huts. It’s not finished yet, and I will show you when it is, but I think Mum is having fun. She says it will make her smile, which is always a good thing in my book. Mum likes bright colours. She says that England can be very dull and drab in the winter so the more bright cheerful things we have around the better.
I think we should just go to Switzerland instead – or sit in the hall with my picture of my mountain and its beautiful blue sky. To be fair, I don’t need bright colours so much and don’t mind grey days as long as I can still be outdoors. It’s the really wet days that get me down.
