Half a bed – Monday21st October 2024

Half a bed

Mum brought half a bed back from storage. To be fair it is the cushion and not the surrounding sides, so all is not lost. Dad said I’d already got more than enough beds and I didn’t use the one in the bedroom. I do sometimes. I really don’t want to go moving it from there and then find I don’t have a bed where I want it. Mum says this one is positively the last one I will be allowed to have around the house. That will give me four big beds to choose from. I will have my crate as well, but that doesn’t count. At the moment, two of the beds are in the garden room, but one of those will move to the office when my crate moves to the utility in a few weeks.

Condition

Mum’s only condition to me keeping all four around the house is that I share them with my puppy when I get her. I did have to think about it carefully. Obviously I will love my puppy very much, but there are still times I will want some time apart. Mum says my crate door will be open so I can have some ‘me’ time in there when I feel like it. That will be all right until I find my puppy has gone in there when I want to be there. I suppose it will take us a while to find our way around things. My friend Cracker has recently got a new puppy and it took her about six weeks to work out how things will be. Once she’d put some ground rules in place they got along wonderfully.

I’m going to put together a list of Wilma’s rules so that the puppy can get the hang of things quickly. The first one is ‘No jumping on me when I’m not expecting it’.

Love

Wilma
