Jekyll and Hyde

Jekyll and Hyde is a perfect description of Pebbles. On Tuesday at her training class, Mum couldn’t do a thing with Pebbles. She kept her on one side so as not to disrupt the class and worked with her in parallel until Pebbles decided to calm down a little. Yesterday, Pebbles saw her one-to-one trainer and, for the most part, behaved much better. Ok, so she did show her tendency to get over-excited at inappropriate moments, but she worked off lead for the first time and came when called. The problem is the ‘inappropriate moments’ and she does have quite a few of those.

Mum asked the trainer if she thought it was something mum was doing wrong. The trainer laughed and said she’d have already told Mum if that were the case.

What next?

Pebbles has come a very long way, but she does have problems with attention and concentration. She also gets bored really easily, which doesn’t help. I know she’s only a puppy, but sometimes she won’t concentrate at all. She also has real problems with impulse control, but not always triggered by things which are obvious.

Mum is going to talk to someone else who might be able to give her some advice. One day, Mum says we will all look back on Pebbles’ puppyhood and laugh. I do hope she’s right.

Cleaning my cone

I’ve asked Mum if I can have a new cone. She says I shouldn’t need to wear it much longer so there’s no point. Quite honestly, I think it needs a good clean. I’ve tried, but it’s hard to lick it all over while still wearing it. You know it’s bad when even the dog thinks it needs cleaning. Mind you, the plus side of giving it a good lick is finding the food that got stuck to it when I’ve been eating.

Love and licks
