The reason why
Yesterday we found out the reason why Pebbles is so obsessed with next door’s broken fence. Mum and Dad went to have a look what needed to be done as far as emergency repairs are concerned. Mum peered into the gap and two yellow eyes stared back at her. The cat, from next door on the other side of us, had made himself a nice shady den to sit in out of the sun. The problem is that it’s behind the broken panel of next door’s fence. There are some plants behind to make it cosy, but it doesn’t present much resistance to a dog like Pebbles.
Unfortunately, Mum still isn’t well enough for the work to do a repair, so for the time being, Pebbles has to be supervised at all times.
A Sloth Sort of a Day
Pebbles was having a sloth sort of a day yesterday. That is not to say she was slow – she is never slow! Yesterday it was Sloth she wanted to carry around with her everywhere. It’s always either Sloth or Hoppig. She’s very attached to them both. Mum was sitting in our outside bar and Pebbles was enjoying being with her and watching everything in the garden from her vantage point. She took Sloth with her for company, just in case she didn’t get enough attention from Mum. Mum actually said that she thought she’d managed the nicest cuddle with Pebbles that she’s managed to have so far. Normally she doesn’t stay still long enough.

There was one really funny moment yesterday. Dad was outside with Pebbles and Mum had been indoors. Pebbles had been playing in the mud from the spring in the corner of our garden. When Mum went out, Pebbles was really pleased to see her and totally plastered Mum in mud in her enthusiasm.
