Eating the paddling pool – Tuesday 1st July 2025

Eating the paddling pool

Pebbles didn’t spend so much time playing in the water as eating the paddling pool. With it being so hot, we didn’t actually spend much time outdoors but when we did, Pebbles really hadn’t got the hang of things. I don’t think she actually ate any of the pieces but she was, little by little, shredding the paddling pool into little blue bits. Mum explained that firstly that was not how the water would get her cool and secondly, if she didn’t stop she wasn’t going to have a pool any longer. In the end, Pebbles said she’d had enough of doing that anyway.

Cool floors

When we had the building work done, one of the things we had done was some of the carpets replaces with tile floors. Well I must say that in this weather, that was a stroke of genius. I am thoroughly enjoying the feeling of lying on the tiles. Mum says she’s enjoying walking around the house barefoot too. I’ve gone outdoors for the essential toilet break time, but in this weather as far as I’m concerned the outdoors is overrated.  Even the poor plants look as though they wish they could come indoors. The poor sunflower in the pot near the house was wilting very sadly.

Making up to us

Mum has promised that from Wednesday, when the temperature drops, she is going to spend all her time outdoors with us. She is fed up with being ill and not being able to do enough with us and we’re fed up with the heat. It sounds like a plan. Nothing and nobody is going to come ahead of us in Mum’s priorities – although I think the garden itself might be a pretty close second. It sounds like a plan.
