Water baby
Pebbles is such a water baby. Even heavy rain doesn’t stop her wanting to find more water. Mum is having a very difficult job keeping Pebbles out of the pond. With the water level being so low, she climbs in and paddles across the shallow end. She picks up anything she sees as being edible as she goes. Mum is less convinced that Pebbles’ choices really are safe to eat, but there is only so much she can do to stop her. If Pebbles lives to old age then we’re all going to be very pleased about it – although I’m unlikely to be around to see it.
When Mum did get Pebbles out of the pond she went to play in her paddling pool instead. She is so funny. She really enjoys splashing and scrabbling at the bottom of the pool so the water goes everywhere. It almost makes me think I’ve been missing out all these years, but I never really took to the pool.
The lemon tree
One thing that really did not impress Mum was when Pebbles decided to try to pick a lemon from the lemon tree. Mum has worked so hard to care for those trees and is very excited to have another crop of lemons this year. They won’t ripen until later in the year, so it would be awful if Pebbles were to pull them off the tree now. Mum has turned the pot round so that the branch in question is not immediately in Pebbles’ line of sight. I just hope that works or Mum is going to be very upset.
Growing fast
It is amazing how fast all the weeds are growing now we’ve had some rain. However hard Mum works trying to pull them all out, they seem to appear faster than she can deal with them. She did manage to get the thistles out yesterday by wearing two pairs of gardening gloves. One pair just wasn’t enough to stop her being prickled.
