Old friends – Monday 29th September 2025

Old friends

There is nothing quite like meeting up with old friends. Yesterday, I saw my friend Ruff. He was born in England but then moved out to live in Switzerland after a couple of years. The funny thing is that we didn’t know each other while he lived in England and only became friends out here in Switzerland. That’s the more strange as his mum, Bella, was Alfie’s girlfriend. I felt bad as he hadn’t heard that his Mum died a couple of weeks ago and I had to break the news to him.

Anyway, we met in a place called Solothurn. It’s a lovely old town, and is probably quite quiet most of the time. Yesterday it wasn’t quiet as we’d picked a day with a motorbike rally going on at the same time.

Comparing notes

As is the case when old friends meet, we began comparing notes on medical conditions and life in general. He has recently had a cruciate ligament operation, but is recovering well. I told him about my eye – you know the sort of thing. We barked a lot, but that goes with the territory. We both reminisced about the good times of barbecues on my mountain and lovely walks we’ve had. I think we both thought our humans would have been better meeting there than in a town, but that’s humans for you. It’s a shame he can’t come with me later in the week when I go back to my mountain again.

I’m not really sure what Mum and I are doing today. I’ve made a few suggestions, but they may not fit with what else needs doing. Obviously, my mountain was one of my suggestions, but it’s quite a long way from here so probably not possible today.

Love and licks
