Five minute wonder
Well that was a five minute wonder. Mum finished building the fence for Pebbles and blew up one of the balls. For the first few seconds, Pebbles eyed the ball with suspicion. She’d played with it as a puppy, but hasn’t seen it for about a year. The last time she saw it was when she tried to use it as a trampoline to get out of the little pen. Anyway, once she’d realised what it was she was delighted. She ran up and down the orchard, non-stop. Mum was delighted. Fortunately, Mum took a photo at that early stage.

A moment later, Pebbles decided to try to pick it up in her mouth and you can imagine the rest. The ball burst and deflated. Of course, it remained Pebbles’ prize possession at that time and Mum had to go to get some cheese in order to take it away from her for safety.

The next step
Mum now wants to find a similar sized ball with a firm exterior that Pebbles can’t pick up with her mouth. She can use the boomer ball, but to get the best out of the space she really needs something larger. Mum is now trying to research Pebbles-proof herding balls. I fear this could become a costly exercise.
Dad was busy blowing up the other ball that Mum had, but she decided it was best not to give that to Pebbles to destroy too.
I’ve never felt the need to destroy everything in sight, so I find it an odd thing to do. We’re starting to reach the conclusion that we’ll never really understand the way Pebbles thinks. Mum says she is likely to become better as she gets older, but quite honestly I have my doubts.
