Cat up the tree – Friday 27th March 2026

Cat up the tree

Pebbles was shouting ‘Cat up the tree,’ repeatedly when she was barking outside. She had gone out to play in the garden and Mum stayed inside. Then Mum heard constant barking. We aren’t allowed to stay outside barking. Mum has always made that very clear. The rule is that if we start barking we have to come straight indoors. Mum went to call Pebbles in and found her in the corner of the orchard barking up at the tree. Pebbles was trans fixed and totally refused to come in, even when offered treats.

It was then Mum saw the ginger and white cat sitting on the branch. The cat wasn’t actually doing anything apart from sit there, but Pebbles was very concerned.

Cheese and fish

Mum came inside to get the cheese and the fish, in order to distract Pebbles. She also collected Pebbles’ lead so that she could encourage her to come out of the way. By the time Mum got back outside, Pebbles had stopped barking. That was the good news. The bad news was that the poor cat had gone even higher up the tree.

At least it made it possible for Mum to get Pebbles’ attention and bring her indoors. I presume the cat would be fine. It’s a big strong tree with lots of branches that would hold its weight. Mum waited quite a long time before letting Pebbles out again and by then the cat had gone, so we think it got down ok.

New freezer

The new freezer has arrived. It is such good news for us. Now Mum has enough space to make a full batch of Kongs and keep the sardines and cut up dog pate for us. She hates either giving us too much or letting anything go to waste, so keeps batches of things in the freezer so we don’t run out. I hate Mum telling me something is out of stock or even not knowing which drawer I’ll find things in. I like my world to be very predictable.

Love and licks
