Poor Hedgehog
Well, poor Hedgehog was not expecting that. Mum got to the bottom of the wood episode. The pile of wood was home to Mr Hedgehog. Pebbles wouldn’t come in last night so Mum had to go in search of her. There was poor Mr Hedgehog sitting close to the dishevelled pile of wood, curled into a ball with prickles raised. And next to him was Pebbles, sniffing then jumping back before advancing once again. Hedgehog did the only sensible thing and stayed curled up until Pebbles got bored.
Once she was indoors, Mum gave Mr hedgehog ten minutes before going back outside to check he had moved on. Then she rebuilt the pile of wood, checked nothing was trapped inside the tarpaulin and left Mr Hedgehog to remake his bed. On the bright side, Mum said he was looking very well and appeared to be a good weight. I think it’s been easier being a warm winter and our garden does provide plenty of food.
Fence repairs
Mum waited until it was light to repair the fence so Pebbles could carry on playing with her ball. It was an opportunity to get out her lump hammer. Mum doesn’t get many opportunities to use a lump hammer, so I think she enjoyed herself. Odd as it may seem, she had it as a birthday present a few years ago. To be honest when she’s having a bad day, I do think we should perhaps hide it from her.
Anyway, once the fence was fixed Pebbles was beside herself with excitement. She didn’t know which she wanted to do more – sniff out where Mr Hedgehog had gone or play with her ball. Mum suggested the ball was the better idea! I hope for his sake that Mr Hedgehog has taken the opportunity to move house and covered his tracks in the process.
