My kennel visit – Thursday 21st March 2024

My kennel visit

Yesterday was my first kennel visit at the new kennel Mum wants me to get used to. It is fair to say that one of us coped better with the day than the other. In the morning when we arrived, Mum took me to the gate. I sniffed the lovely lady who came to meet me. She smelled suitably friendly, so I let her stroke me and wagged my tail obligingly. To Mum’s pleasant surprise, I didn’t bark in her face as I normally do with strangers. I trotted in with her without so much as a backward glance to Mum.

On the other paw

On the other paw there was Mum. She looked far more distressed than I did. Mind you, part of that was me forgetting to say goodbye properly. I just thought she’d prefer to see me being ok about everything.

When Mum picked me up the lady told her I had whimpered a bit at the start, but then settled down to make the most of the day. Every time the lady went past my kennel, I did go and look to check if it was my turn to go home again, but each time accepted that it wasn’t.

Pleased to see her

I made up for not waving goodbye when Mum came to pick me up by launching myself at her in true Entlebucher fashion. Mum had spent all day missing her sidekick, which made me feel pretty good. On the bright side, I know I won’t be in kennels any more than is necessary. We have agreed I’ll do another day of day care before I try an overnight stay. Hopefully, now I know what to expect it won’t seem too bad for either of us. I’m going to try to remember to wave goodbye to Mum next time. I think it would cheer her up.

Love

Wilma
