Puppy visit – Sunday 10th November 2024

Puppy visit

Today is puppy visit day. I think I’m excited, even though I’m going to stay in the car. My excitement is around feeling we’ll move a step closer to getting Pebbles if all goes well today. Obviously it’s up to Mum and Dad and the breeder, but I’ve got my paws crossed. I’m less worried about the whole idea of Pebbles breeding than Mum is but I do understand it’s important for our breed. There just aren’t enough of our breed in the breeding programme and when you’ve got a small gene pool in the first place, that really isn’t good news.

Mum says there really need to be some from every litter born going into the breeding programme if we’re really going to make a difference, but that isn’t very likely. Most people only want a dog as a pet, they don’t really think about how the breed needs to develop.

Play area

Anyway, Mum and I worked hard yesterday and we did get to the back of the shed with all our dog things in. Mum says when the weather is better we need to get everything out and clean it all. Some things are past their best and may have to be thrown away, but others just need a good wash. The good news is that we found all the panels of the puppy pen. As it is, the pen is 8 feet by 8 feet.

Mum has found that the same one is still for sale, but with 6 panels rather than the 8 we have. She’s going to buy one so that she can put the two together. It will give a safe outdoor play area of 12 feet by 16 feet, which is plenty big enough for us to have some toys in. When I say ‘us’, it’s really for Pebbles, but I have offered to supervise her.

  1. Dear Wilma, what a shame that you can’t meet Pebbles yourself today. But little puppies can also be very annoying, so perhaps it’s better if you stay in the car. Best wishes from your sister Valeria

    • Dearest Valeria,
I even found your darling puppies scary, so I think it’s probably best for now. Once Pebbles is a little older, I’m sure I’ll be fine.
      See you soon
      Your loving sister
      Wilma
