Training Pebbles – Tuesday 4th March 2025

Training Pebbles

Mum is working very hard at training Pebbles. On top of weekly dog training, Mum is taking her to the dog field two or three times a week so they can focus on her training. It’s a great place to work on recall. Yesterday they were also working on walking to heal off lead, playing tag and only taking treats from Mum’s hand when given permission. Mum was delighted by how well Pebbles was doing. She feels that Pebbles has made lots of progress in the last couple of weeks. Now I’ve got my paws crossed that she can show some of that in her training class today. For the last couple of weeks Mum has been pretty frazzled by the time she’s come home.

Playing tag

We use the playground game of tag as a more fun general recall. We play it when we’re out walking somewhere and Mum thinks it’s safe for us to be off lead. Sometimes we might get caught up with some smell or other and fall behind. Then Mum will shout ‘tag’ and we have to run and put our nose into her hand to ‘tag’ her. She usually has a treat there for us to take, so it’s never a hardship to play along with her. It was Pebbles’ first time playing tag yesterday and she was getting the hang of it pretty quickly.

Mower

Pebbles is now getting more used to the mower. Mum is making the most of the dry weather to try to get the whole of the grass cut. Because it hasn’t been done since last year, she’s still having to cut it quite long, but she’s hoping to get all of it cut before the weather changes again.

While Mum mows, Pebbles is working on the hole she’s been digging. It’s really qetting quite big now.

Love and woofs
