Visiting family

Yesterday Pebbles spent some time visiting family. Her half-sister, Ullien, is three years older than Pebbles and her niece, Ximi is only a couple of weeks older than Pebbles. Pebbles had a lovely time playing with Ximi. Even though she is slightly younger, Pebbles is both taller and heavier. She weighed in at 21.5kg yesterday, but is still right for her size. The problem comes when Pebbles doesn’t know her own strength. While she met Ximi’s seven week old housemates, Mum made sure that Pebbles stayed on lead and was calm around them. From the look of Mum, I think she would have liked to bring the puppies home. When I asked her, she did assure me that Pebbles is quite enough for her at the moment.

Mealtimes

Pebbles is so weird about mealtimes. For me, I’m ruled by my stomach. I know what time it is and whether any meal is as much as a minute late. Pebbles just doesn’t think about food. Sometimes she eats breakfast, sometimes she doesn’t. Sometimes she wants all three of her meals in one go, sometimes she wants them spread out. She loves being given a treat for being a good girl but then very often just drops it on the ground as she doesn’t want to eat it. That’s great for those of us around her, who can then eat the treats.

Travelling complications

Since Brexit we’ve had to cope with not being able to take dog food with us when we’ve travelled from the UK to Europe. Now it’s a problem to bring it back too. It’s all to do with measures to prevent foot and mouth coming back to the UK. I do wonder if some of the measures go a bit far though. I can’t really see how my dog food could be a risk. Fish and chicken meat are ok, so it isn’t as much a problem for Pebbles. She can travel with her sprats too, but couldn’t take any meaty treats. It’s very complicated.
