Pebbles is learning
Pebbles is learning some things. Her personal trainer came to see her at home yesterday and they worked on some of the things she’s struggling with. Within minutes she had progressed from getting up from a down as soon as she was lying down, to being prepared to stay in that position for quite a long time.
After that she was doing some work to help Pebbles fully understand where each of her limbs was. I know that sounds weird, but we aren’t always conscious of where we put our feet when we move. Mum has taught us all to walk backwards as well as forwards, but Pebbles hasn’t got to that point yet.
Blocks
Pebbles has two wood blocks and loves working with them. Yesterday she was putting all her paws on the block and then moving forwards and backwards so that staying on meant keeping her paws in alignment. She wasn’t finding it all that easy, but she was making progress by the time they finished.
Mum has put the weaving poles out in the garden too now. Pebbles was enjoying weaving in and out with Mum and learning her left and right commands. There was just one small problem. Pebbles expected to be rewarded for her efforts and Mum was more focussed on telling her she was a good girl. In the end, Pebbles threw a hissy fit. Honestly, these temper tantrums aren’t pretty. Once she’d calmed down, she and Mum talked about it and agreed a compromise for the next time they do the exercise.
Training class
Today Pebbles is off to her training class with the other puppies. Mum is really hoping they can move up a class soon as Pebbles really is too big and boisterous for the smaller young puppies. I guess she’ll get there eventually, but it really is taking a lot of time.
