And then it rained
We’ve had so much good weather and then it rained – and rained. It didn’t conveniently pick a time we could all be cuddled up on the settee indoors watching it. Ok, so I could be on the settee watching, but not Mum… or Pebbles. They were at Pebbles training class – getting soaked. The training is outdoors and despite the rain Pebbles was still excited to be there – Mum, not so much. In the two weeks since they were last there the training school has installed a lovely big field shelter, which meant the young puppies could go in and shelter. Pebbles, on the other paw, was so excited and hyperactive that Mum decided it was safer for the young puppies for Pebbles to wait outside – which meant Mum had to as well.
Crawling
For the first half of the lesson, Pebbles was so excited to be back that she spent the whole time crawling on her belly around the field. Mum said ‘sit’ – Pebbles crawled. Mum asked her to walk to heel – Pebbles crawled. It was only after this had gone on for half an hour that Pebbles remembered that we dogs are supposed to walk on four legs and got up again. For the next ten minutes she worked with Mum and did some good work. Unfortunately, there was then a major downpour and Pebbles suddenly became very reactive and unhappy. At that point, Mum decided that in the interests of both their sanity, it was time to come home.
Homework
Mum waited for the weather to improve and then did some work with Pebbles at home. Unfortunately, by then Pebbles had consumed so many treats that she really didn’t want anything more to eat. Given that she won’t work for free, it meant she wouldn’t work at all. And so we try again today!
