A trip to kennels – Wednesday 18th June 2025

A trip to kennels

We are having a trip to kennels. Actually, that’s where I’m writing this from. It’s only a very short trip as Mum and Dad both needed to go for an appointment and it’s too hot to leave us in the car. They will be picking us up again on their way home, so it really is very short. I do like the people here so was pleased to see them. Pebbles is a one off. There is being happy to be here and then there’s Pebbles. To say she was delirious with excitement would be an understatement.

To be fair Pebbles was having that sort of day yesterday. I think she’s been eating something that makes her high. Mum says she’s just like that naturally. She went to dog training yesterday morning with Mum and Mum says she doesn’t think she’s ever sworn so much in the course of one hour.

Showing off

One of Mum’s frustrations at puppy class is that Pebbles simply won’t cooperate on all the regular stuff. Yesterday she would not sit still and wriggled her way through her exercises – not great when you are supposed to be doing a 30 second stay. She was trying to put her friend Dexter off too and get him into trouble. Then towards the end of the class they moved on to some fun stuff that might be regarded as tricks. At that point Pebbles the Clown began to show off.

Teach your dog to go under a chair – ‘What?’ says Pebbles, ‘Like this?’ promptly going under the chair in any direction Mum asked.

Get your dog to put her paws up on the chair – so Pebbles simply put her paws up on the chair. That is one of the things she’s been doing with Mum. Then she went one better and got up on the chair, turned around and sat beautifully like the humans sitting down.

Yesterday’s theft

Yesterday’s theft by Pebbles in the garden was a little more alarming. Mum has a pile of wood offcuts and Pebbles ran off with a plank. If it wasn’t bad enough that she was knocking over things in the garden as she ran round with it, Mum was worried about her getting splinters in her mouth. Poor Mum made the difficult to move the whole wood pile to somewhere that Pebbles wouldn’t be able to get to it. It was very hot work.

Love and licks
