Pond obsession – Sunday 22nd June 2025

Pond obsession

Pebbles has developed a pond obsession. She is finding something she fancies eating, but won’t tell us what it is. Mum was expecting her to be sick overnight, but she’s absolutely fine – which, I think, is good news. If we can’t find her at the moment all we have to do is go to look amongst the reeds at the side of the pond. Normally, they’d be the reeds in the pond, but a lot of the water has evaporated. Of course, if Pebbles then comes to jump on you, she does so with black slimy paws. That is not going down well.

Nor is it going down well that Pebbles has found where next door’s fence has rotted and is bring pieces of it to Mum as her latest prizes. Mum has put a temporary fix in place but it doesn’t seem to be working. She needs to talk to next door again but can’t do anything until she has got rid of Covid. Let’s hope Pebbles doesn’t do too much damage in the meantime.

There she is

Nursing duties

One good thing about me feeling better is that I feel more like undertaking my nursing duties. When Mum has the opportunity to go back to bed, I’m there by her side watching over her. I haven’t wanted to do much cuddling up in the last few months, so I think it’s proving comforting for both of us. Mum isn’t getting all that much time to rest, with Pebbles being so hyperactive, but she’s trying. In the meantime Pebbles is having the opportunity to enjoy more filled Kongs, bones, pizzles and chews than a puppy could normally dream of. At least she’s so thin that we don’t have to worry about her weight at the moment. Mum can deal with that when she’s well again.
