Learning to trust
Learning to trust can be a slow process. Pebbles will be 6 months old in just over a week and Mum has decided that it’s time to give her a little more responsibility for making the right decisions. Mum is not totally stupid and does have very sharp hearing, so allowing Pebbles a little more freedom does meaning Mum staying on high alert at all times and checking what is going on whenever she is in doubt. So far, this has involved Pebbles running around the garden with her latest prizes – the ball thrower, lumps of compost, a solar light – you know the sorts of things. She is also being given more freedom in the house, but in a controlled way and with all things unsafe for puppies being moved to higher surfaces – or put in cupboards.

Not too bad
So far it is not too bad. I’m opting to stay out of the way when Pebbles is around, but to be honest at the moment I’m staying out of the way in any case. I did mooch around the garden while Mum was mowing the grass. Pebbles was in her pen for that so she could watch, but couldn’t try to help. It will be a long time before Mum will trust her around things like the mower.
Dad is fed up with Pebbles bringing lumps of compost into the house, but it makes a change from Mum bringing mud in. There was a funny moment when Pebbles ran off with one of Mum’s boots. Mum was concerned as she really didn’t want anything bad to happen to the boot. She needn’t have worried, Pebbles only wanted to get the mud off it.
Training classes
Pebbles has her training class this morning, so I get some peace. I wonder whether she will do any better at recall. Mum has been trying quite hard since last week and thinks the more natural situation of the garden is helping. I, on the other paw, think Mum is completely deluded.
Love and woofs
