Occupying a puppy
It’s hard work occupying a puppy when you can’t take them for a walk. Pebbles is being quite well-behaved, all things considered. Mum is reluctant for her to spend time in her outside pen in the middle of the day as she doesn’t want her to get too hot or to get sunstroke. Consequently, we keep trying to come up with things indoors for a puppy who never wants to just chill.
She used to be kept occupied for ages crushing plastic bottles. Now, with one bounce the plastic bottle is flattened and she wants the next thing.
Chews
She will finish a pizzle quite happily, although that rarely takes long. She loves filled Kongs, but Mum doesn’t want her putting on weight, so there’s a limit to how many she can have. Then there is the frustration with chews.

Pebbles never finishes a chew. She will munch away for a while and then gets bored. That isn’t so much the problem. It’s the fact that when Mum tries to give her the old chew the next time she wants one, she always insists that she will only have a new one. That means we have a lot of half finished chews, which mum finds frustrating. Yesterday we solved the problem, or at least made a start.
Peanut butter
Mum dipped the length of the chew in the peanut butter and then gave it to Pebbles. When she was very small she said she wasn’t keen on peanut butter so she hasn’t had it for a while. Yesterday, she gave it a couple of licks and then declared it to be completely acceptable. She took her prize off to make the kitchen floor sticky and made the most of the whole of the remaining part of the chew. I’ll sort the floor problem later by giving it a good lick.
Love and licks
