Home grown vegetables
At last we have home grown vegetables on a daily basis again. It’s the best time of the year as far as I’m concerned. Gone are the days of me jumping into the raised vegetable troughs to help myself. Thankfully these days Mum makes sure I get a little of the best of things in life, without me having to steal them. Yesterday we had potatoes, carrots and tomatoes. There are some squash nearly ready too, which is very exciting. It is most exciting for Mum as she finds it easier to eat veg when it’s really fresh and totally organic. That’s why she started growing her own in the first place. We’re not going to have as much this year, which is a shame, but we’ll enjoy it all while we can.
Cutting the grass
Mum thought cutting the grass wasn’t going to be too big a job. I think she underestimated just how big the weeds have grown. We managed to sort a small patch of the garden yesterday but Mum was too tired to do very much. I’m going to try to encourage Mum to do the next small section today. Hopefully, we’ll get through all of it in a few days. I just hope it doesn’t grow too much in the meantime.
Buzzard
I don’t know whether to be grateful or worried. A buzzard left us a beautiful feather on the patio. Much as I wonder if it might just be a nice little present, I can’t help but wonder why exactly it left it right by the door to the garden room. Has it tried visiting and found we were out? Is it planning on coming back? They fly over our garden and sometimes seem quite menacing when they are really low. I really don’t think I want to come face to face with one.
