More confident

I’m feeling more confident than I have felt in a very long time. Mum says that’s showing in the way I’m behaving. When you’ve had a couple of years of bad health, you can get to the point where it feels like you’re never going to be well again. It’s as though you’ll never get back to being your old self. I think it may have been more than a couple of years, now I think about it. And before I was ill, I hadn’t been going out all that much due to Covid. Now, I might be rather older, but I can cope with the world rather better again.

Meeting people

We’ve been travelling for the last couple of days. That has meant meeting new people and new dogs. For the last couple of years I haven’t dealt with that very well. Mum has even got to the point where she’s asked me if I’d rather stay at home. I can honestly say now that I wouldn’t. I am even wondering if I might like to go back to going for proper walks again. Yesterday, one of the dogs I met was a Beagle puppy and she was gorgeous. I even gave her a few licks and checked she was doing ok. I had quite a maternal moment. Her humans thought it was sweet, which was nice too.

Old friends

Friday night was made easier by staying at a place I’ve stayed before with Mum. There’s a Jack Russell there who I made friends with last time. Mum said he was leading me astray last time, as she caught us raiding a bin, but let’s not go into that one. Anyway, I was so pleased to see him. I nearly made a mistake and was about to go into the neighbouring room, as that’s where we stayed last time, but everyone thought that was funny. The people staying in that room were sitting outside and I’d already made friends with them, so Mum explained my confusion.

Mum says it feels very much like having her best friend back which is good as I feel I’ve got me back too.

Love and licks
