Fond Memories of Alfie

Wilma with Alfie when she was young

It’s a day for fond memories. Today was Alfie’s birthday. And it’s not just any old anniversary today, it’s the 20th Anniversary of his birth. Mum says that makes her feel old. It means it’s twenty years since she and Dad moved to Belgium. I love the fact that I arrived in time to have Alfie as my best friend and mentor. He was such a special dog and there isn’t a day goes by when his name isn’t spoken in this house. It still feels weird that Pebbles has no idea who he was. She would have loved the days when we were a chaotic four dog household. Mind you, with Pebbles in the mix it might just all have been too much.

And then there’s summer to think of

I’m having fond memories of summer and the rain free days we had too. I cannot believe how much rain we’ve had in the last few days. It isn’t my imagination, Mum’s weather app says we have had 140mm in the last 30 days rather than the expected 68mm. The ground is back in squelching mode and Mum gets plastered in mud by Pebbles every time she has the audacity to put clean clothes on. There is a lot of gardening which needs doing, but I guess Mum can be forgiven for not feeling like doing any of it.

I’m off to hydrotherapy today, but I could just as easily go and walk up and down in the orchard to get the same level of water resistance. Mum has reminded me I only get the benefit of buoyancy when my body is in the water too. I guess rolling around in the mud doesn’t count then. I’ll leave that one to Pebbles!

Love and licks
