Flying leaps
Pebbles is good at making flying leaps. Rarely is a flying leap a requirement in our house. Most of the time when she does it, Mum is alert and nothing goes too wrong. Ok, so there was the day last week when Pebbles nearly knocked Mum through the side of the greenhouse, but I don’t want to dwell on that.
As Pebbles had been reasonably good, Mum asked if she’d like to go and sit in the big cuddle chair with Mum. Mum does sit with Pebbles in the chair in the hall, but Pebbles gets excited and after she’s finished doing a weird headstand, invariably kicks Mum off the chair.
A bad idea
Anyway, the cuddle chair is my favourite chair and it’s in our garden room. I wasn’t in it, so Mum said that Pebbles could go into the garden room for a cuddle. Pebbles isn’t normally allowed in there as she tends to run off with things she’s not allowed to have – like cushions!
Mum hadn’t thought the whole thing through. Dad was sitting in the garden room and quietly reading. He was also holding a can of Coca-Cola. Mum, naively to my mind, opened the dog gate to the garden room and simply suggested that Pebbles should walk to heel to get to the chair.
Like a streak of lightning

Pebbles can move fairly quickly when she puts her mind to it. Rather than walk to heel, which quite honestly was never going to happen, Pebbles flew through the air landing on Dad – and his book and his can of Coca-Cola. There was a lot of noise – mainly from Dad, some flapping, mainly from Mum and Coca-Cola everywhere. Not to mention the ripped page of the book.
Pebbles was unceremoniously removed from the scene and a clean-up operation took place. It’s amazing how far a fizzy drink can spray under the force of an over-excited Entlebucher.
