It’s good to have ambitions
It’s good to have ambitions and I’ve been talking to Pebbles about hers. In some ways, she is a dog of simple thinking and this is definitely one of those times. Pebbles wants to win the biscuit catch at fun day. She has very good paw-eye coordination and is very food driven. I can safely say that catching food is her most practiced skill. Mum plays a lot of ‘find it’ to keep Pebbles amused. That involves throwing a treat on the ground for Pebbles to find. The idea is to distract her and to occupy her for at least a little time.
Pebbles has made it her goal in life to intercept the treat as often as she can so that it doesn’t actually fall on the floor. She can twist and turn in all manner of directions in order to catch a treat.
Fun Day
Now Pebbles is counting down the days to Easter and our first fun day of the year. She has been practicing hard for a many months in an attempt to win the biscuit catch came. She’s admitted there is little likelihood of her winning any of the games where she has to do any obedience commands. She’s positively dangerous in games like the ball and spoon race as she gets so over-excited. But biscuit catch is definitely her thing and she is really looking forward to showing off what she can do.
I reminded her that pride comes before a fall and she needs to remember that a lot of our breed are pretty good at things like that, but she has rather set her heart on winning.
I just hope she isn’t disappointed.
For my part, I’m thinking of sticking to snoozing in the boot of the car and not actually taking part in the games at all. I Really don’t feel I’ve got anything to prove at my age. I’ll leave it to the youngsters.
Love and licks
