Take a seat – Wednesday 8th July 2026

Take a seat

Yesterday at Pebbles’ training class, Mum was told to take a seat. The seats were all put in a big circle and the idea was that the dogs would be put through their paces whilst their owners were sitting down. Basically, we’re supposed to do as we’re told whether you are standing up, sitting down or for that matter lying on the ground.

Mum took a chair. She put it down. Before Mum could do anything else, Pebbles jumped up and sat on the chair. All Mum could do was laugh. Pebbles was the picture of innocence. Mum contemplated role reversal and would have sat on the floor, but for the fact if she had then she’d never have got up again.

A mixed day

After that it was all a bit mixed. It was a different trainer than normal and they hadn’t seen Pebbles for a while. On a couple of exercises they gave Mum the option to do a scaled back version of what the others were doing. Pebbles said she’d try really hard to do it right and actually excelled. She even managed to wait for her recall, without doing commando crawl to get to Mum before being told.

Overall, Pebbles was doing really well for the first half an hour. After that she was simply too hot and asked Mum if they could go to sit in the shade. Mum didn’t think it was just an excuse for her usual boredom. Pebbles really doesn’t like the heat. When they did go into the shade, Pebbles sat very nicely and didn’t cause a problem.

Both Mum and Pebbles were pretty tired by the time they came home. Mum had a coffee, which perked her up. Thankfully, Mum doesn’t allow Pebbles to have caffeine. There’s no way that would be a good idea.

Love and licks
