Work avoidance
It’s not exactly work avoidance, more shed roof avoidance. However, Mum is finding other jobs to do. It doesn’t matter how much I point out it’s the ideal time to sort the roof out while it’s not raining, Mum still doesn’t get around to it. So far, she has weeded the vegetables, which I will admit was quite important. She has also now started dead-heading the roses. Her argument on that is that they are struggling through lack of water and really don’t need the effort of making rose hips. Again, it’s a reasonable point, but it won’t get the shed roof fixed.
Mum is arguing that the weather is too warm to be up a ladder fixing a roof. She has also argued at times that it is too cold to be up the ladder, too wet or just too – not a roof sort of a day. Ok, even I can acknowledge that the material she has to use is scratchy and doesn’t feel nice. I can also agree it doesn’t smell very nice. However, the roof leaking causes things inside to go mouldy and that’s not good either. It will have to rain again first, but I’m sure it will do that one day.
Kitchen Hand
I shall be working as a kitchen hand, or more to the point kitchen paw, later. Mum and Dad have friends coming for lunch on Sunday and Mum will be starting some of the preparation. She did as Dad to help, but I pointed out that it was my job. Weirdly, Mum seems to want both of us, which is not going to end well. Dad ends up wanting to stand where I’ve already put my paws. Obviously, I need to be close to where the work is so I can lick the floor as Mum drops things. To be fair, today is more about the planning, so I’m happy for Dad to help with that. I really come into my own with the food itself. That will start tomorrow night I think.
Love and licks
