Dear ducks

Dear ducks, our pond maintenance is complete for another year. There is now lots of lovely room to swim. Mum has ordered something to tackle the rest of the blanket weed too. Your house is ready and waiting. Please will you come back? We miss you.

Ps – Mum is thinking of adding a pump and waterfall to the pond and I thought you might like to have a say in what it’s like. If you come back, we can talk about it.

You have to try

You have to try and in the remote possibility that the ducks read my blog, I thought I’d write to them here. I’ve asked Mum if we can go for walks around any local places with rivers or ponds so I can spread the word that way too. It really would make us happy if they came back. Mum has even wondered about having some domestic ducks which actually live here permanently, but she thinks our fox visitors present too big a risk.

Busy day

I have a social engagement on Zoom this morning. I’m having a chat with a prospective owner. He’s already met one of my friends and their Appenzeller housemate, but had some questions he still wants to ask. I’ll do my best to provide honest answers about our behaviour, but obviously will be telling him we’re absolutely perfect and never put a paw wrong. I think that’s why Dad is going to be on the call with me. That way the man will be told both sides of the story of what I’m like to live with. Mum says I’m perfect, but Dad has what he calls a more balanced view. I can still twist him round my paw, so I don’t mind too much.
