A little warmth – Friday 30th January 2026

A little warmth

All I ask is a little warmth in my old age. For the last couple of weeks I’ve been biting my claws about whether we were going to receive a delivery of oil before we ran out. It was supposed to be delivered by the 19th – it wasn’t. Then three other days they told us it was coming and it didn’t. Finally, after Mum used her best begging voice, it was delivered yesterday morning. Good news – I thought. Then Mum told me we’d also had a letter to say our electricity will be off all day in a couple of weeks.

You’re not going to believe this, but I actually heard Dad say they’d be ok as they’d go out for the day. When I asked where he had in mind taking me, it turned out I wasn’t included. Am I really expected to stay at home without any central heating at my age? Mum has said she won’t go without me, so I think it will be all right. We’re going to have to cuddle up for the day – let’s just hope the weather doesn’t turn cold.

Half way there

Our building in the garden is half way there to being finished. Thankfully, it’s all fairly straightforward so I can have my garden back to just us in another week. Having said that, Mum says she’s going to get someone to come and sort out the fences that need some work. She’s also going to find someone to help lay some paths. I think she could do the paths, but it would take her a long time – especially if she added it to the list of outstanding jobs.

More importantly, it means I’m only another week from deciding where I want to put my bed in the new building and trying out the window seat that Mum thinks is for her.

Love and licks
