The best bit
I’m spending time with the best bit of grass I can find in the garden. At the top of the orchard we have natural springs. Or at least we do when it’s wet. There are no really springs at the moment, but it is still the wettest part of the garden and so the last part to go brown. It’s much nicer under the apple trees enjoying the shade and with soft grass under paw.

Dad visited the Lake District earlier this week and they have had more normal levels of rain. It’s still green up there. Here we have had only 4mm of rain in the last thirty days, rather than the expected 62mm. I know there are areas worse off than us, but it is still shocking to see some of the poor plants in the garden.
Clothes Kintsugi
Mum thinks the term ‘repairing clothes’ sounds too negative. She is back onto clothes kintsugi. Her favourite dungarees have some more holes in. Instead of patching them in a way which wouldn’t show, which frankly would be hard to achieve, she is taking the Japanese approach. She is adding patches, which of course you don’t do with china, and then sewing them on with a bright colour. The way this particular pair of dungarees are going they will be more patch than original material.
A Dad Day
Today is a Dad day. Mum has had to go to the dentist again. Obviously, she’s not happy about it, but it means Dad’s in charge. He’s getting quite good at it now and even does all my medication right. Mum leaves a list so he can check them all off and I remind him what time it is, but overall it goes quite well. We miss Mum, but having Dad around is just as good.
