Avoiding scams
Humans are always being told they need to find ways of avoiding scams. Mum says she was reading about just how clever some of the technology is now and how it makes it easy for people to use software which pretends to be another person. We dogs have been ahead of humans on our security measures for a long time. You need to use different senses if you’re going to stay ahead. It’s times for humans to become more like dogs. Sniff. Use your noses.
I’m not absolutely saying that you should sniff someone’s bottom instead of shaking their hand. An armpit would work almost as well. If you learnt to recognise everyone you know by smell, then you should be able to avoid the scammers.
Of course, it may be more difficult over the phone and could take a while to catch on, but just think of the benefits.
Range of emotions
Not only will you know for certain that you’ve got the right person, but you’ll be able to tell how they’re feeling too. From a person’s scent we can tell what sort of mood they’re in and in addition could give them a whole health report afterwards. You could cut down on trips to the doctor. I’m guessing the fact that human’s don’t have as well trained senses of smell will be a limiting factor but you can practice. I’m sure given time and training you could all become much better at it.
Worry
Today Mum primarily smells of worry. She’s trying very hard not to show how she’s feeling about me going into hospital. I know she doesn’t want to unsettle me, but she can’t help it. Your smell doesn’t lie. I can tell if she’s been eating cookies without me, or if she’s not well. Today she smells mainly of worry. I’m going to be a brave girl and try to help her get through. My bag is packed ready and I’m leaving her just after eleven. I’m packing my laptop, so as long as I’m feeling ok I can write and tell you how things are going.
