Lovely day with Groot – Monday 2nd September 2024

Lovely day with Groot

I had a lovely day with Groot yesterday. She was so welcoming that it made me feel really comfortable. I met humans I’d met before and some new ones and was fine with all of them. I stayed a safe distance from the puppies. They are six weeks old now and have very sharp teeth. I’ll leave all that stuff to Groot – she’s doing an amazing job with them and is a fantastic Mum. She can be so proud of her pups, as can their dad Bandet. They have absolutely beautiful markings and seem to have really nice characters too.

Playing during the lovely day with Groot

Obviously the puppies were playing, but more exciting for me was that Groot and I played for a while. That is the first time I’ve been able to play with another dog without being in pain for as long as I can remember. Mum thinks it must be about six months. Mum was on hand to make sure I didn’t do too much, but it just felt so good.

Falling in love

Dad was busy falling in love with one of the puppies. He’s going to be called Hugo – the pup, not Dad. Mum said looking at them just reminded her of when they first went to visit Alfie and Dad and Alfie bonded. I think it’s a good job Hugo is already promised to another home or Dad would be saying we should have him. The exciting thing is that he’s actually coming to live only about 6 miles from us, so we’re really hoping to see him regularly. I’m hoping he might like to try my play area when Mum has built it.

Proud of me

Mum and Dad have told me how proud of me they are for all I’ve managed this weekend. They think if I can keep building up from this then I might get back to normal. To be honest, it’s all gone on for so long I’ve really forgotten what normal is.

Love

Wilma
