Bonfire Night
It’s Bonfire Night here in the UK. That’s a night that sends shivers through many animals. If you are having a bonfire tonight, please make sure that you check no wild animals have moved into your pile of twigs before you set light to it. If you are having fireworks tonight, please have quiet ones that aren’t going to frighten animals. It isn’t just domestic animals that can find it hard to deal with. Wild animals can become very distressed too. They have no idea what all the sudden lights and noise mean. It isn’t much fun to be left feeling terrified by what’s going on.
Even though I’m ok with things like this, Mum doesn’t let me out in the garden off lead when there might be sudden bangs. Even the most balanced of animals might bolt if taken by surprise and that can have disastrous consequences.
The gardeners
The gardeners are great. I explained to them that I want the garden to be safe for Pebbles and they completely understood. They also like that we take wildlife into account and have places animals can safely get down to the pond to drink. Mum said we only garden organically and they said that was their company’s ethos too. It’s going to be very exciting to see everything neat and tidy after getting so overgrown.
Mum says we need to spend some time outside today moving things out of the way so they can get to all the areas they need to work on. It’s amazing the things we piled up at the start of the building work and I’d forgotten we’d got. I asked Mum if she’d get the cushions out for the sun bed I found, so I could be really comfortable while she did the rest of the work, but she refused.
