So much rain – Monday 25th November 2024

So much rain

We’ve had so much rain that most of the routes out of our village are flooded again. We didn’t go to see Pebbles, but honestly the weather was so bad that it was probably a good job. Now we’re hoping to go up to see her later this week. The only problem with that is that Dad will miss out, but there is nothing we can do about that. I shall keep Mum company, so it won’t be too bad a journey.

Yesterday’s rain meant Mum has fallen behind on the outdoor jobs. I didn’t have the heart to send her outside to work in it when even I didn’t want to be out there. She now needs to work harder on the dry days to catch up. I’ve tasked her with four bags of mulch spreading today, instead of just two – and that’s just before we go out to meet Cinders.

A moose crisis

We had a bit of a moose crisis yesterday. Mum and Dad have started to put up the Christmas decorations. It isn’t really Christmas in our house until the moose head (a soft toy in case you’re worried) is wearing his Santa hat. The problem was, no one knew exactly where the moose head was. Fortunately, Mum remembered putting it in a box and labelling the box. It wasn’t in the cupboard upstairs so Mum went into the loft.

The moose was glad to be found as Mum had written Mousse on the box and he was worried she would get confused and think he was something edible. He is now back on the wall in the lounge and is proudly wearing his Santa hat.

Emotional

I had a bit of an emotional day finding some of the things in the cupboard ready for Pebbles. She will have Alfie’s first collar and lead. I can’t believe that my lovely friend was once that small. Mum can’t remember whose the harness was – Probably Shadow. Alfie didn’t have a harness when he was small. It was only after he said he’d be happier with one that Mum realised that might go for all of us.
