Home to chaos – Monday 16th December 2024

Home to chaos

We came home to chaos. Mum sort of knew that was going to be the case as she had talked to the builders a little bit, but she still wasn’t really prepared. It took us all a fair time to tidy things up and make it look habitable. I helped with some of it as Mum took the opportunity to build the pen we’ve got for Pebbles. It is in the garden room so she can be with us all the time, but not wander off when Mum can’t keep an eye on her. It meant me moving one of my beds, but that was better than risking it being peed on. I will be so happy when Pebbles is fully toilet trained and life can be a little more normal.

Our drive home

Our drive home was fine until we arrived in England. Why are English motorways so much busier than everywhere else? It was so much slower. Mind you, we nearly didn’t get that far. When we stopped for fuel in France Mum’s payment cards wouldn’t work as they didn’t take Visa. Mum didn’t have any cash and she couldn’t remember the number of the one card that wasn’t Visa – it nearly went very wrong. Fortunately she has an app for the bank on her phone and that let her look the number up. Otherwise we would have ended up running out of fuel and not being able to pay for any.

Our torch

One thing that did make Mum happy when we got home was finding the torch. She thought she’d left it behind at the Friday night stop, but fortunately it had just fallen out of the bag onto the back seat. You wouldn’t believe how happy Mum could be over a torch – but I guess we do use it every time we go out when it’s dark.

Love
