Long days
We’re back to long days in the car. Yesterday morning wasn’t too bad a start. We left about 8.30am from the place near Mulhouse. It didn’t take us long to get back onto the motorway and then Mum stopped every couple of hours. The first stop I had a good walk around, but it was bitterly cold, so I was glad to get back into the car. The next stop we both had lunch, so that wasn’t too bad either. After that we only had another hour and a bit to do to get to our overnight stop near Saint Quentin. It’s the little place down the farm track again, so we were glad to get there in the light. We had done a total of 350 miles by the time we arrived and were both glad to be out of the car.
Organised process
We have an organised process. When we arrive both Mum and I know which bags we still need from the car and so can unpack quickly. It means we know if everything is there to put it back in the car too. I would hate to find my bed got left behind anywhere.
Once we were sorted out we went for a walk down the track through the farmland. It’s nice because there’s no traffic and no one around. I was surprised to find some sheep that hadn’t been there a week ago, but I’m used to sheep so wasn’t particularly excited.
Early night
Travelling makes us both feel quite tired, so we had an early night. Now I’m trying to hurry Mum up to get back on the road. I can’t wait to get home and see Dad. Mum says it will be a few hours before we get there. We have to do the whole checking in at the tunnel thing again. Mum has reminded me how much easier it was coming over without me barking and has asked if I can behave like that again – I think she’s being optimistic! We should get to the Channel Tunnel at about 11am if things go to plan
