Another day another family dinner
Well it’s another day and another family dinner today. Yesterday was Mum’s family and today is Dad’s. At least today includes my canine cousin Flossie. There will only be five humans today including Mum and Dad, so quiet by yesterday’s standards.
Yesterday there were eleven humans including two very small ones. It was all very good experience for Pebbles, who spent her day watching everything that was going on from the safety of her large playpen. She wasn’t too keen on the screaming when one of the small people was upset, but then no one could blame her for that. I think she found the most exciting part when they were crawling round the floor at her level playing with a wooden train.
All in her stride
Pebbles took everything in her stride. She barked a bit at the exciting things and was fascinated by the juke box when Mum and Dad put that on. She seems to like twinkly lights. Not in a bad way. Mum would never allow or encourage light chasing as that always has disastrous consequences. Pebbles likes just sitting and watching them, which is fine. It reminds Mum of how much Aristotle used to like watching fireworks.
Last Christmas
Anyway, today is our last Christmas for this year. After that Mum says it will just be down to her and Dad eating leftovers for a month or two and then life can return to normal. We have to take all the decorations down too, but I think Mum is trying to ignore that bit. Pebbles says she’ll miss all the pretty lights in the garden. Mum will too. She finds English winters very gloomy. At least the days are starting to get longer again now, but for Mum the light nights just can’t come soon enough.
