Back to basics
Mum has gone back to basics with Pebbles’ toilet training. In some ways she’s doing really well and in others Mum just doesn’t understand what is going on. Overnight Pebbles is dry, which is quite an achievement at only 10 weeks old. During the day, from when she gets up until 3pm she is just as Mum would expect and we have virtually no accidents. After that time it’s as though all the rules go out of the window and Pebbles ends up peeing at as little as twenty minute intervals. That’s also the time of day she turns from a quiet puppy into a ferocious raptor.
Mum has given her a feeding toy to help keep her occupied and that means each of her meals takes ages and is eaten dry. She’s got fresh water, but Mum wonders if Pebbles was just drinking a little too much for one thing. We’re seeing how that goes.
Perfecting her sit
Pebbles is very food driven. That probably explains how she already weighs 7.86kg (as of yesterday!) She has learnt to sit for a treat and will even now sit when she’s a pace away from Mum. Often she will simply come and sit nicely in front of Mum in the hope of getting a treat. Now Mum wants to teach her to stay while Mum takes a pace or two away from her and then goes back to give her the treat. Let’s see how quickly she picks that one up. Sometime soon Mum will also try to teach her to wait and the come to Mum when she’s moved a couple of paces away from her. Little by little she will learn all the important things.
On the downside at the moment, as far as Pebbles is concerned, Pig has lost his oink. Pebbles doesn’t know how it’s happened, but I’ve got a fair idea!
Love and woofs
