Opting out
I went for the opting out option yesterday. The question was ‘Do you want to come to the dog field with me and Pebbles?’ It’s the first time Mum has given me the choice. The other two occasions I found myself unceremoniously bundled into the car. Mum was being considerate. My eyes are a little better than they were earlier in the week, but she could understand I may not feel like being chase by a manic puppy – and she was right. I didn’t want to do that. It meant Pebbles going on her own. Pebbles said she didn’t want to go. She tried to spreadeagle her legs to make it impossible to get into the crate in the boot of the car. Mum was left a little frazzled by the battle of wills, but did win.
Recall work
Armed with very high value dog treats, Mum set to work on Pebbles’ recall skills. There is a lot of room for improvement but Mum said it was at least better than she’s been doing. Pebbles has been doing a little better on lead walking while not in class, so there’s room for hope there too. After around 20 minutes of solid working, Pebbles had had enough and was getting over excited, so Mum called time.

Using the ramp
Pebbles has already learnt how to use the ramp to get into the car. I taught her that. Mum usually lifts her when she’s the only one there, but after the issue earlier Mum decided to use the ramp. Pebbles has decided her future career lies in being an acrobat. Mum was still holding the ramp vertically and had not leant it against the car when Pebbles tried to climb up it to begin with. After that, a few treats in the crate and the ramp to climb up and Pebbles completely forgot to protest.
Mum has booked to take her to the dog field twice next week too
Love and woofs
