The Paddling Pool is Dead
Well, the paddling pool is dead. It died an ignominious death caused by chewing. Sadly, there were two real problems. Firstly, Pebbles had chewed the edges so much that there were now sharp bits that were dangerous. The point at which she slightly cut her nose Mum said it was a bad idea. Pebbles didn’t take that well, so dragged the pool across the pen and had one final chew which tore a hole in the side of it. At that point it became much harder for it to hold water and Mum said that enough was enough. Mum tipped the water out, causing Pebbles to complain that she had wanted to do that. Then with Pebbles hanging off the edge of the pool, Mum carried it away to go on a pile of things waiting to go to the tip.
Lead work
Pebbles spent much of yesterday practicing her walking on lead. She has always been a lead chewer and gets very hyped up at the sight of the lead. Mum wants to take her out on some long walks now she’s finished her season and is old enough to go further. When Mum clipped her lead on first of all yesterday, Pebbles jumped up and accidentally grabbed Mum’s ear. Fortunately she let go without doing any harm. Mum used some of the chicken she’d been saving as high value treats to reward Pebbles when she did things right and then had lots of short sessions where she had some time on lead and then had a play afterwards.
Mum said Pebbles did quite well. She is now hoping to take her out of the garden into a real walking situation today. I’m crossing my paws that it goes well. Mum needs to try to take some videos to send to the Behaviourist, but that’s quite hard to do when she’s on her own. I think she will need Dad to go with her for that.
