Spots of rain

We had a few spots of rain yesterday. Mum behaved really strangely and just stood there with her arms out. We went over to the pond and watched the circles that the drops were making. It was quite mesmerising, but sadly it didn’t carry on. Even the apple trees are looking as though they are fed up with it. Some of the leaves are really curled and dry. Some trees are already dropping their leaves in desperation.

To be honest, I’m really not dealing well with this spell of hot weather. I am stuck in this awful cone and when you’re hot and bothered on top of that it really is a bit much. Apparently I’m driving Mum nuts. If I’m not walking into the back of her legs with my cone, I’m crying because she’s put me in my crate for a while and I don’t want to be there. Normally, I love my crate, but I just cannot get comfortable.

Cardboard box

One thing Mum has learnt in the last few months is that if she’s going to give Pebbles a cardboard box to play with, she should do it in her pen. On one occasion Pebbles ripped it a box up and left it all over the garden, which then took Mum ages to clear up. Now it just means going around the pen to pick up the thousands of pieces that Pebbles can turn one cardboard box into. Of course, it isn’t quite as simple as it sounds. Whilst Mum is doing that, Pebbles is trying to take the pieces back out of Mum’s hand. Then Pebbles makes them into smaller pieces still. I’m not sure if it’s Mum playing a game of picking things up or Pebbles playing a game of making a mess. It seems to keep them both occupied for a while.
