Where is Pebbles? – Thursday 21st August 2025

Where is Pebbles?

Several times a day you hear Mum shouting ‘Where is Pebbles?’. To be honest, I just don’t know why she bothers. The answer is always exactly the same. Pebbles is in the pond. Every single time. Out she comes, smiling as always and with her paws dripping wet. It does make a change, when she’s not in the pond, her paws might be dry but her nose is usually covered in soil from where she has been rooting around in the undergrowth. Sometimes, Pebbles manages both. The spring on the corner of our garden is still wet. That allows Pebbles to turn up with wet paws and a muddy nose.

Wherever she’s been she always has one common feature. She’s always smiling.

Cleaning the garden furniture

Mum has been busy cleaning the garden furniture ready for the party. It’s not easy to do when you have a puppy running off with the cloth you are using. Then the brush. And finally your rubber gloves. I think Mum spent more time conning Pebbles to leave her treasure so Mum could retrieve them than she actually spent doing the work. I would have offered to help, but I was too busy feeling sorry for myself indoors. Mum tried suggesting to Pebbles that she could help but Pebbles was having way too much fun for that.

Building up her walks

Pebbles is trying to build up her walks and she if she can manage to do that without getting too stressed or misbehaving. Mum was really quite pleased with her yesterday, although it does cost an awful lot in treats. When I go for a walk, I’m way too busy sniffing and enjoying the great outdoors to even think about treats. Pebbles is only like that for the first few minutes and then weirdly she gets bored with sniffing. At least Mum went prepared.
