Weigh-in – Tuesday 9th September 2025

Weigh-In

Pebbles went for a weigh-in yesterday morning so that the vet can work out the dose of her new medication. She is now the same weight as me or even a little more. Pebbles is 24kg. Mum says that she thinks that once Pebbles can easily go for walks that will come down a little. The real problem is the amount of treats that Mum has to give her to get her to do anything. All being well, once she starts on her medication the number of treats needed to keep Pebbles entertained will come down.

The vet rang Mum later in the day to discuss which tablets to prescribe for Pebbles, in order to get her dose right for her weight. The tablets come in standard sizes and none is exactly right compared to Pebbles weight. Anyway, they have worked out a solution which will mean she starts on a little more than was suggested but then will be the right amount once Pebbles goes onto the higher dose after five days. Mum is taking Pebbles to pick them up this morning.

Gardening

Mum spent a lot of time gardening with us yesterday. It is going to take her ages to cut all our hedges, so we’re trying to help her doing a little every day. We also painted one coat on one side of the shed that needs painting. The tin said ‘grey’ so Mum hoped it was going to be the same grey that the shed is painted already, so we could just touch it up. It isn’t. The new grey is a completely different colour, which means painting it all. We’re doing a side a day but then two coats. That’s eight days of painting, but only when the weather is dry.

As if that wasn’t enough, Mum has started to plant the herbs. She has to cut the grass out first and prepare the soil, so it’s a bigger job than just planting. We got one lavender in yesterday. That just leaves around forty plants to go.
